Media player from Apple iPod Classic has played a great role in the market of iPods. The Classic gadget has come across six generations, also a spin-off. A 1.8 Inch hard drive was used by all generations for storage. Apple introduced the "classic" retronym alongwith its 6th generation Classic on September last year; before this, Classics were known as iPods.
About the iPod Classic its operating system (OS) is kept on the dedicated storage-medium of this gadget. There’s one additional NOR flash-ROM-chip (either 512 KB or 1 MB) that contains a boot loader program telling that the device need to load the OS from storage medium. The gadgets come with a RAM of 32 MB, although the 80 & 60 GB 5th generation come with 64 MB of random access memory. The OS is kept in only a portion of RAM, however most part serves to the cache songs.
